BAMMM Fall sure did come RUSHING in this year.

It seems like just last week I was moving my closets around to summer clothes and now I'm at it again - in reverse.  Maybe it would be easier to just switch bedrooms.  The best part is collecting clothes I've not worn in a few years and giving them to Goodwill.  I'm actually going through all my closets and cabinets and unloading bowls, dishes, glasses - things I never use.......it feels good!!

My show last weekend at the Warwich Yacht and Country Club was a bust but it was great being home and seeing my family.  Live and learn as they say.  I have reduced all my Jewels and Little Jewel Hookers by 20% so I can start making some new Jewels.   I'm also going to list my BIG craft desk for sale.  It seems the larger the area the bigger mess I make.........time to scale down.

Pictures are of my great family, craft show, Jewelry Rolls and a few beach goodies (beach glass is from Nags Head.)   Swimming with the fishes are adorable!   Enjoy!!

HOTTEST SUMMER YET

Oh yes, this has been one hot summer with very little rain.  My garden is doing well in the heat thanks in part to my rain barrel with a little city water thrown in.

With all this heat the best place to be is inside - loving the AC.  South Boston has a few private pools which we did not join this year and we sold our boat so floating on the lake is a thing of the past.  We did try one of the lake's beaches but found them noisy and too crowded.........oh how nice it would be to be back living near the ocean - maybe one day soon.

The way I'm beating the heat is by creating new "Little Jewel Hookers" with a few earrings thrown in.  I have a show at the Warwick Yacht and Country Club on Oct. 14th and hopefully another show in Nov. so I'm trying a new item, "Jewelry Roll-ups"..............most fun to make and an awesome travel case for all your jewels.  I'm making them in different sizes and colors..........all you do is stuff the pockets, roll and tie the cord around a cute button.  These are great for traveling but can be used to store your jewels at home.  I've worked long and hard with the help of my great sewing friend Chris and I'm hoping folks will enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed making them.

Pictured are a few new "Little Jewel Hookers" and a small sample of my "Jewelry Roll-ups."

Keep cool and enjoy the rest of the summer as we only have winter to look forward to.

Summertime in the South

GrandPa Redd, Riley & Emma

Daytona Beach, FL
Emma and Nana (me)
As always winter was harsh, spring flew by and now HOT summer is upon us.  Not that I'm complaining as summer is my favorite season - just wish the humidity would let up so being outside would be more enjoyable.  Something about all this sunshine brings smiles to people's faces and folks seem nicer.

After my wonderful spring show I'm taking some time off from my jewelry corner to concentrate on the garden (YES, it's actually producing), cleaning out closets of everything not used in the past year, taking mini vacations (just returned from a week in FL.) and of course visiting with family.  Our favorite times are visiting the grandkids in Williamsburg and on a rare occasions them visiting us.  Seems we sit around all winter doing nothing and BAM...summer is here and things get rather busy - not complaining.  This weekend my hubby's parents are visiting and the next weekend my son is bringing my grandson, Riley, to experience his first car race at the South Boston Speedway.  July 4th weekend we will be in New Bern, NC - one of my favorite places to visit.  I also LOVE hearing about my granddaughter, Lexie, and her Warhill soccer team!!

Not to say that my mind isn't working overtime thinking of new things to make.  As I see something I like, an object or certain beads I will file the info away for the fall.........then it will be time to start on the Holiday Season and hopefully a show or two.

The pictures are of me and Emma picking strawberries, Us in FL. and then my 3 favorite people.

I still have a great inventory of Little Jewel Hookers so if you need a special gift send me an email.

This summer take time to stop and marvel at all the greenery and beauty.

OPEN HOUSE

Thursday, April 14th at the home of Chris Butterworth 484 Mountain Road,  from 7PM - 9PM or later if we're having fun!  I hope to see all the local folks there.

I'd like to thank Ami Hudson for all the hard work she did on my Bio - hoping to get it into the local papers - didn't work and as much as I'd like to tell you all why I figured those who know me certainly know the reason and the rest of you probably couldn't care less.  Grow where you are planted, but GEE folks quit all the kicking........I may end up brown and shriveled before I can retire and move back home.

The greatest thing about living where I love or NOT is that I can always entertain myself with jewelry..........I go upstairs to my craft table and it does not matter what is outside my window - though I am enjoying all the singing birds.  Spring is the best time of the year.  Life is what you make out of it.

Remember to buy local and from an artist who has "One of a Kind Creations" & is home of the "Little Jewel Hookers."  The following link is to Ami's Blog and her beautifully written Bio - thanks again and much thanks to Chris and Jenny.

The Weather

It seems in the winter all we talk about is the weather...the cold, the rain, the wind and the snow.......I just think we are all bored so the weather is a good topic. My friends, I am not bored as I'm keeping busy making more "Hookers."

I know - how many "Hookers" do you really need??? I'm finding folks have such varied taste depending on their age, where they're from, what they love and who the "Hooker" is for. Trying to keep up with all these variables ties me at my craft desk for hours. I sit and look and then I lay the design out, take it apart, look some more and then when I think it's just right together it goes. Then......I look at it off and on for a few days and if it's not just right I clip the wire and start all over.........oh my!!

I have over 50 "Hookers" made and very few pictures so that will be a my job today - take those pictures.
I enjoy creating and I love it when someone tells me that they are wearing my "Hookers." What better satisfaction than that.

Thanks again to all my friends and family for their support.

I'm a Happy "Hooker" - you can be too. Shop Beach Babe's Jewelry.

More Hookers - Keep them coming!!

With this crazy weather I've been keeping busy by making more "Little Jewel Hookers." The little mermaid "Hooker" in the last post now has a home in Richmond. That makes me happy and hopefully my cousin will enjoy it for many years.

Valentine's Day is right around the corner and what could be better than a One of a Kind "Little Jewel Hooker?" These jewels are special because they are not mass produced - I make each one with loving care and no two are alike.
If you see something you like just email me and off it goes. Support a local artist.

"HOOKERS" you say????

As promised I've been busy this week dismantling jewelry and making my pretty jewels into "Little Jewel Hookers." It's relaxing for me to go hide in front of my craft desk and recreate new pieces. I still have the whole photo thing going on, or NOT going on but I've figured out what part of the problem is - I AM NOT PATIENT....never have been so I rush through the photos, upload, edit, label and into cyber-land they go.

I ran into a distant cousin last weekend who is into mermaids......."Do you have any?"................ahhh - "no" I said. I mean I have everything but mermaids. Funny part is while I was working this morning I found a silver mermaid - I mean REALLY?? I was so excited to start working on her. The picture above is what happened to the mermaid.......pretty awesome?

Enjoy the pictures and remember to support a local artist. Let me know if you see a "Hooker" you'd love to have............I can make that happen. Where else can you buy a One of Kind Creation for about $10?

"Little Jewel Hookers"

With the holidays behind me I have picked out my best seller and decided to run with it. During the holidays I was selling "Little Jewel Hookers" right off my neck!! I have many and am in the process of re-doing my jewels to make them all into hookers. I know......people laugh at the name but it fits - they are beautiful little pieces with a hook clasp. These jewels can be hooked on your necklace (one or two at a time) purse, key chain..........the uses are endless.

Pictured are only a few with many more to come. As I've said before, taking jewelry pictures is an art and one that I have not mastered but I'm sure you'll love the Little Hookers.

Friends of mine are going to have a show for me this spring where I can show off the hookers and help people re purpose their old jewelry. I'm green through and through and enjoy taking a piece of jewelry that is not worn and making it into a jewel you can wear with pride. Recycle and enjoy!!
